The maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis denotes the maximum ratio of the number of atoms (or moles) of photosynthetically assimilated carbon to the number (or moles) of solar radiation quanta for the conditions prevailing at any given instant in the water column.
The unit of the maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis, like that of the quantum efficiency of photosynthesis, is mol C Ein-1. Ein denotes the Einstein unit, that is, a mole of quanta. The maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis is defined in the description of the quantum efficiency of photosynthesis.
Methodology
The maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis in the Baltic is determined using the DESAMBEM algorithm (Woźniak et al., 2008).
Validation
It is assumed that the errors of the methods for determining the maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis are the same as in the case of the quantum efficiency of photosynthesis.
