

Radiation budget NET
The difference between the downward shortwave SWd longwave irradiance energy flux - LWd and the upward fluxes of SWu and LWu in the 0.3-100 µm wavelength range. Values are expressed in [Wm-2]. The SatBałtyk System provides maps of mean daily values of the radiation budget with a spatial resolution of 1 km.
Methodology
Maps of the radiation budget are determined on the basis of mean daily maps of downward and upward long- and short-wave radiation, plotted within the SatBałtyk System (SBRS model [1]).
Validation The statistical error, expressed as the standard deviation of the differences between values measured in situ and those determined using the satellite model for mean daily values, was σ=15.5 Wm-2. The systematic error (the mean difference between measured and calculated values) was estimated at -5.5 Wm-2. The validation was based on empirical data gathered on the Baltic Beta drilling rig in the Baltic Sea (φ=55°28’50.9’’N, λ=18°10’44.7’’E).
