Exceedingly important to every ecosystem is the amount of energy available for various biological, physical and chemical processes. In the case of the marine environment, the key point here is the amount of energy, the form in which it reaches the sea, and how much is released into the atmosphere. That is why parameters are introduced to describe quantitatively and qualitatively the transformations of energy in the sea, and also the balances of these transformations.
